You will need to change the utilities of your new home into your name effective the day of closing. This is something that the new home owners sometimes forget to do and then on the day of closing they start moving their items into their new home only to find out their water and electric has been shut off. In the event that this is Friday, you will not be able to have this corrected prior to Monday morning. So make sure you take the time to switch the utilities into your name several days prior to closing!
