New residents to South Carolina may use a valid out-of-state license for 90 days (military personnel may operate on their home state license as long as it is valid).
To obtain a South Carolina drriver's license, you must take a vision test, present your social security number and current insurance (if you have out of state insurance, call to make sure they are bonded in South Carolina.)
Anyone obtaining a license for the first time will need their birth certificate and SS# and take a road, written and vision test.
